Weekend Getaway

Tomorrow morning my family heads up to the beatiful

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

My uncle owns a house up there, and he lets us enjoy it as if it was our own

since he lives in Saint Louis, we get the pleasure of using it

whenever we please

It's been a tradition to go to Steamboat for the 4th ever since I was ten

normally we stay in hotel

but now we have the luxury of a house

I absolutely love spending time with my family

especially on holidays

we always get to indulge ourselves with big meals

and of course dessert

it's usually something simple, and what is more simple than food dipped in chocolate

it's easy and tasty, plus everyone can enjoy it

even me, the picky one

here are a few of my favorite fourth treats

Hump Day: Inspiration

1. Hump Day:

"Wednesday, or the hump of the week 
The absolute BEST day of the week, the day of maximum hope that maybe, 
you might make it out of this week alive."

So I've decided to try this new thing where every Wednesday

I post something that is inspiring

that can be a quote, a hairstyle, an outfit, a DIY project, etc.

Anything I feel inspired by

(which seems to be a lot these days)

with it being summer and all, I feel as though I have so much free time

and since I hate being lazy

I search the web/outdoors/surroundings for anything

for me to do to keep me off the couch

though technically while I'm surfing the world wide web looking for something inspiring,

I am plopped right on the middle cushion of my couch

a bit hypocritical I'd say

Anyways, today I am inspired by:

(drum roll)

I'm sure you never would have guessed it

Balloons

they are so carefree

the wind just takes hold of them and they don't fight back

they can be twisted and turned

made into many shapes and yet they still hold their figure

although I'm not telling you that it is ok to be manipulated

it is ok to loosen up every once in a while

sometimes I find myself wondering what it would be like to be a balloon

to be let go and float into the sky

although they seem so simple, they can be anything

anything you can imagine

and what is more inspiring than your own imagination?

Summer of Braids

One word: Braids

These are my summer hair inspiration

and I haven't strayed far from them

I've been practicing,

french braids, side swept braids, and fish tail braids

 My techniques were rough at first but

I've been brushing up on my skills

and falling more in love with how many styles of braids there are

It's easy and can dress up (or down) any outfit

It is my go-to hairstyle

of the season and I just can't get enough

Now I just need to work on my tan and I'll

have my perfect summer look

It's a quick fix to any bad hair day too

What A Plus!

A week of Success

Sorry it has been so long.

I've been caught on cloud nine I forgot to write :)

This past week my club team (REAL Colorado) and I

headed off to Boise, Idaho with high hopes

The 2011 Region IV Regionals would be taking place

and we were a contender to take home the title

Although our team was a mash of

Aresenal and REAL and we have only been together for about a month

we knew we had talent

enough talent to win that is

Yesterday, June 26 was the day we proved we have what it takes to 

become champions....

yeah, that's right, I am part of the new Regional Champions team

and I couldn't be prouder

We played a well fought game yesterday and came out on top with 

a much deserved win

We came back to win 4-3 with two goals scored in

stoppage time...if you don't believe me, you can watch it on the Idaho news

This however, is just a milestone in the things this team can accomplish
Natoionals is up and coming, and we are training hard to
take home a National Championship
what an honor it would be
I can't wait until the end of July when we have the opportunity
Until then, the posts will come
(most likely not about soccer)
and I promise, it will be on a more regular basis
I know I've been a little flakey lately

now stare jealously at our new title

Love Is In The Air

Boy am I behind

I know it's been a while since I last posted

and I do have a good explanation 

for this...

1. I have been driving like crazy 

(I need to learn how to drive stick ya know)

2. Soccer is a very needy sport

3. Weddings call for some time off

Although it wasn't my wedding

I still feel the need to take time to prepare for such an event

My best friend Hannah Meenie has 

the most wonderful mother named Patty (Pats for short)

ok she hates that nickname,

but it's one syllable and easy to say

Anyways, Pats is in love with a man named Mark Maricle

how precious right?

Well this past weekend, they made it official

and

I WAS INVITED!

It was held at the cutest, most quaint little Inn

up at Gold Hill

the wedding took place outside and the rain stopped just long enough

for them to say I DO

I had so much fun celebrating their love

I just had to share it with you

who doesn't adore a happy ending?

Talk About Embarrassing

So this whole

"I got a new car, but it's a stick, so

I'm going to have to learn how to drive it"

thing isn't really working out

like I had originally

planned

Yesterday: I decided going to the mall would be a fun idea

of course I'm not comfortable enough taking

my new car on main roads

  I give myself extra time by leaving early just so I can take the back roads

that don't have lights

It's the starting and stopping thing that really gets me

anyways,

while driving through my neighborhood, I had to come to a stop sign on a slight hill

usually I can handle it

but on this very occassion

there happened to be cars behind me

talk about pressure

instead of just doing what I know

I panicked and started rolling backwards on the hill

I let the clutch go too soon, and of course

I stalled

meanwhile, everyone is still waiting behind me

so 

instead of turning on the car and starting again

I turned on my hazard lights

and let everyone go around me before starting back up

talk about Embarrassing

as everyone drove by, they stared

which of course lead to me feeling more uncomfotable and

less confident than before

Needless to say,

not even a minute and a half later, the same thing happened

I pulled up to a stop sign

someone pulled up behind me

and I went into panic mode

the hazards went on and the car stalled

I'm starting to see a trend...

let's just hope none of this happens on my way to practice today

(while I'm alone)

I really won't know what to do

With Happy Tuesday News:

Stacie is coming into town

She is my mothers Bee Eff Eff who recently moved to Connecticut

with the most wonderful man named John

Today they are traveling all 

one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight miles 

to come see me :)

ok, that's not the real reason

but I like to pretend it is

the point is, they will be arriving shortly and 

I. Can't. Wait.

Sunday Funday: That's Chalk?

Big News Number One: I officially have my own car

this beautiful Audi A4 :)

although it's a stick shift, I have been practicing

and can say I feel proficient in the manual

transmission driving department

Apart from my newly found driving skills

today, we headed to Downtown Denver to see Street Chalk

artists from all over the state came to decorate

the city with their talents

just looking at these pictures, I forget they are done with only sidewalk chalk

before today I had only seen art like this on tv

it was definitely an experience I must say

the chalk was organized by color

can you believe this was done by five high school students?

I can't.

Even Superman made an appearance

that's when you know you are at

quite the event!
